Guadalupe Mountains, Texas & Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico
Guadalupe Mountains National Park has several trails with limited road access. I thoroughly enjoyed hiking through this breathtaking beauty.
Trees maintain their fall colors even in winter on the McKittrick Canyon trail.
The Guadalupe Mountains were once a reef in the Delaware Sea some 260 million years go. Rangers have even found fossilized shells!
I climbed to the top of Texas at 8,751 feet - Guadalupe Peak. That was a strenuous hike!
Overjoyed that I was descending after so much climbing. Time would get confusing as hikes would often cross the Texas/New Mexico boarder and it would jump ahead an hour.
Even going to the restroom was an adventure!
Carlsbad Caverns was breathtaking and took about 2-3 hours to hike within the cave. the “Big Room” could fit over six football fields!
